A tour de force

Raymond and Joanne Staindl are winners of the Home Based Business award for 2019.

Mother and son duo Joanne and Raymond Staindl are second time winners of the Home Based Business award after taking out the same category in 2017.

A home based, family run company, Tour Local has grown over the past 10 years from a seniors focused business, into a thriving, multi dimensional, tour and charter company.

“We pride ourselves on allowing people of all ages and abilities to be able to travel overseas, interstate, as well as within our own backyard, all whilst providing a level of service and care that comes from travelling ’with the family’,“ said Joanne, who had long held a dream to own and run her own tour company.

Raymond joined the business in 2016 and Tour Local began to see growth in its transfer and charter business, as it meant Joanne was able to dedicate more of her time to itinerary writing and hosting both long and short tours.

On its website Tour Local describes itself as a ’Can Do’ tour and charter company.

“We don’t just transport you, we take you on a journey,“ said Joanne.

“We don’t just give you a tour, we enlighten you. We don’t just show you a place, we leave you with a memory.“

The judge noted the “great passion“ shown by Joanne and Raymond for their business and the people they come in contact with.

“I was very pleased to hear you got a new bus, which will greatly assist you in many of your projects,“ the judge noted.

“I get annoyed when bus tours continually support the massive fast food outlets instead of a local bakery. You are certainly still heading in the right direction. I was also pleased to see you are looking after smaller rural towns as they need our help.“
